  Cosinus / Countryman 1.5

The A-Final was designed as an elimination between the top 8 ranked teams, in the order that the qualification round produced. Detailed results will be published later; the winners of the quarter-finals were Firefly & MarcusM., Venomous & Nasnad, Cranith & Wortel, and WhoAmI & Vigo. There were some minor differences in the game Cranith / Wortel vs. Robert / Krzysztof but i believe they did not really influence or decide the outcome of that duel.
In the semi finals, MarcusM and Firefly went on by beating WhoAmI and Vigo, while Venomous and Nasnad managed to beat the infamous dutch team of Cranith and Wortel. Get an impression of the people and the games so far here (15 MB Quicktime movie).
The game for the 3rd place was played between WhoAmI/Vigo and Wortel/Cranith, with the better end for the all dutch team. A video of that match will soon be available here.
Finally, the endgame was won by Firefly and MarcusM. vs. Venomous and Nasnad, by 5 - 2 in a "Best of eight" match. Watch the video here (warning, big! 37MB low quality / high volume quicktime movie - dont expect too much! :).
Prizes went to places 1, 2 and 3 as well as to the youngest team (OzzieK. and Mejvik, who just turned 18), the team with the widest travel distance to Berlin (WhoAmI and Wigo, who came from Los Angeles and Delft) and the best local team. Originally we intended to award that prize to the best Berlin team, which would have been IM Muse / GM Tischbierek, but they didnt stay long enough - so we gave that prize to Estenbri / DonToemmel. Finally, there was a special performance prize given to Countryman for showing some stamina by playing the whole tournament witout a partner.

Incredible i forgot to mention that it was Beuki who donated generously 200 € on tournament day, thus allowing us to buy some really cooool special prizes! Klaus, many thanks and apologies for forgetting to mention that in time.
